Maintenance guide for window hardware
The service life of the tilt, tilt-and-turn and sliding hardware elements is also influenced by the way they are taken care of. These are our recommendations to ensure the proper operation of the Barrier windows:
- The movable hardware parts must be lubricated with a drop of oil at least once a year so that the windows open and close easily.
- The window seals must be cleaned with clean water and constantly lubricated using the wet oil wipes in the Barrier maintenance kit.
- The PVC parts can be cleaned of dust and dirt caused by rain with domestic solutions and hot water.
- Avoid using abrasive or acidic solutions, such as: thinner, acetone, vinegar ester, benzol, toluene, xylol, methylene chloride, trichloroethylene, as they permanently damage the window profile surface.
- Avoid the use of abrasive sponges, wire brushes or palette knives for cleaning the hardware elements. You should use a soft cloth and follow the recommendations above.
You should also not install stoppers between the casement and the sash or subject the windows to inappropriate strains. Otherwise, the strength of the hardware elements will be affected.
